The LMR range is recognised globally as the Industry Standard, Ultra Low Loss, Flexible, Low Cost, Lightweight, DC – 6GHz Coaxial Cable Solution for many RF applications.
LMR is a very popular coaxial cable series in the industry due to its excellent reliability, surpassed flexibility and ultra low attenuation.
The LMR cable has loss figures comparable to the extremely rigid corrugated coaxial cables, however, achieves similar flexibility to that of RG Cables. The Times Microwave LMR cable range is around 40% lower attenuation RG Air-Dielectric type Cables.
The excellent electrical performance is achieved due to the cable construction specifications. The centre conductor uses a Bare Copper Clad material which is has a generous amount of copper used. The dielectric is nitrogen injected, foamed, closed cell, Polyethylene which helps towards achieving an extremely high Velocity of Propagation. The outer conductor is made from aluminium tape which is chemically bonded to the dielectric, this results in unsurpassed shielding effectiveness. There is an overall braid also which is made from Oxygen free, tinned copper.
Due to the cable construction, the attenuation is significantly lower as compared to single shielded coaxial cables: RF shielding of LMR-400 is > 90 db as compared to 40 dB for RG8.
LMR Cable is designed to operate excellent from DC – 6GHz. For any frequency band at HF and above LMR is the ideal choice.
The LMR range has a huge variation of sizes. The LMR cable range consists of the following sizes:
