LMR-300 

LMR-300 cable is a Flexible Low Loss Communications Coaxial cable, supplied in any length – manufactured by Times Microwave Systems and available from McGill Microwave  – Authorised Distributor of all Times Microwave products.

LMR-300 Coaxial cable is a popular cable which is part of the Times Microwave LMR coaxial cable range. The LMR range is recognised globally as the industry standard ultra low loss, flexible, low cost, lightweight, DC – 6GHz coaxial cable solution for many RF applications. This is also backed up by the best warranty and technical support in the business.

Why choose LMR-300?

LMR-300 is the most popular coaxial cable in the industry due to its excellent reliability, unsurpassed flexibility and ultra low attenuation. The LMR-400 cable has loss figures comparable to the extremely rigid corrugated coaxial cables however manages to achieve similar flexibility to that of high loss RG Cables. LMR-300 is around 40% lower attenuation than RG Air-Dielectric type Cables.

How is the LMR-300 low loss figures achieved?

This is achieved due to the cable construction specifications. The centre conductor uses a high conductivity, Bare copper clad covered aluminium centre conductor material. The dielectric is nitrogen injected, foamed, closed cell, Polyethylene which helps achieve 82% Velocity of Propagation. The Dielectric has a Aluminium foil outer conductor, which is chemically bonded on to it. Due to the cable construction, The attenuation is significantly lower as compared to single shielded coaxial cables: RF shielding of LMR-300 is > 90 db as compared to 40 dB for RG213.

Outer Jacket

All standard LMR coaxial cable comes with a UV resistant, PE Jacket. This helps to ensure the cable jacket can withstand harsh outside environments and UV rays from sunlight, this is designed to last for up to 20 years of outdoor service.

Frequency Operating Band

LMR-300 is designed to operate excellent from DC – 6GHz. For any frequency band at VHF and above LMR is the obvious choice.

Should you find your RF system operates at above 1GHz, LMR is once again, your best option, as RG cable typically isn’t compatible with any frequency in excess of 1GHz.

    The CCT-03 tool is an efficient tool for cutting LMR, TCOM and RG cables having a diameter of LMR-600 or smaller. This tool provides a clean, square cut - leaving the the cable cut perfectly round. This cutting tool has been specially designed with a perfect spring force already built in to the tool to cut the cable. All the user needs to do is simply spin the tool, and it cuts the cable perfectly itself, every time. The Cutting tool comes with hardened blade, that allows 1000’s of cable cuts, with no degradation to the blade.

    The CST-300 manufactured by Times Microwave Systems and is designed to Strip all variations of LMR-300 cable. This tool has 3 features: Cable cut (To centre conductor), Jacket stripper and centre conductor deburring tool. There is also an adjustment setting on the stripping tool to allow to cut for Times Microwave LMR Crimp connectors or Clamp connectors. Simply set it to the correct connector type and start stripping. The Cable Prep Tool has replaceable blades however this should not need to be done regularly as the blades have been proven to have a very long lasting life.

    TK-300EZ Cable Assembly Tool kit

    The TK-300EZ Cable Assembly Tool Kit has been designed for LMR-300 crimp and clamp connectors. The tooling in the kit can be used with all LMR-300 cables and all LMR-300 X series connectors. The TK-300EZ tool kit consists of the following items:
    • CCT-03 Cable Cutting Tool
    • CST-300 Cable Stripping Tool
    • CT-400/300 Crimping Tool

    CCT-03 Cutting tool
    The CCT-03 cutting tool, included in the TK-300EZ Tool Kit, is the first tool used to cut the LMR coaxial cable. This has been specially designed with a perfect spring force already built in to the tool to cut the cable. The CCT-03 cutting tool has a hardened blade, that allows 1000’s of cable cuts, with no degradation to the blade. The CCT-03 cutting tool is designed to cut from LMR-100 – LMR-600.
    CST-300 Cable Stripping Tool
    The CST-300 Cable Stripping Tool, included in the TK-300EZ Tool Kit, is the second tool used to strip the LMR coaxial cable. This tool has 3 features: Cable cut (To centre conductor), Jacket stripper and centre conductor deburring tool. There is also an adjustment setting on the stripping tool to allow to cut for Times Microwave LMR Crimp connectors or Clamp connectors. This avoids having to take the time to read instructions and measure. Simply set it to the correct connector type and start stripping!
    CT-400/300 Crimp Tool 
    The CT-400/300 Crimp Tool, included in the TK-300EZ Tool Kit is the final tool used to crimp the connector on to the LMR-300 coaxial cable. The Crimp Tool has been specifically designed with ultra strong dies that never wear over time. The dies are made to a very fine tolerance, specifically designed for LMR-300 X Series connectors. The result from using the CT-400/300 crimp tool is the perfect crimp every time, with no tool degradation.
