LMR-400-FR-PVC

LMR-400-FR-PVC cable, Manufactured by Times Microwave systems is designed for low loss general-purpose applications and is more flexible than the standard polyethylene jacketed LMR-400.

LMR-400-FR-PVC has a UL/NEC & CSA rating of ‘CMR’ and ‘FT4’ respectively. It is less expensive than LMR-FR, however it emits toxic fumes (HCL) and greater smoke density when burned.

The LMR range is recognised globally as the industry standard ultra low loss, flexible, low cost, lightweight, DC – 6GHz coaxial cable solution for many RF applications. This is also backed up by the best warranty and technical support in the business.

LMR-400-FR-PVC has excellent reliability, unsurpassed flexibility and ultra low attenuation. The LMR-400-PVC cable has loss figures comparable to the extremely rigid corrugated coaxial cables however manages to achieve similar flexibility to that of high loss RG Cables. LMR-400-PVC is around 40% lower attenuation than RG-8, RG 213, RG 214 and 9913 Air-Dielectric type Cables.

How is the LMR-400-FR-PVC low loss figures achieved?

This is achieved due to the cable construction specifications. The centre conductor uses a high conductivity, Bare copper clad covered aluminium centre conductor material. The dielectric is nitrogen injected, foamed, closed cell, Polyethylene which helps achieve 84% Velocity of Propagation. The Dielectric has a Aluminium foil outer conductor, which is chemically bonded on to it. Due to the cable construction, The attenuation is significantly lower as compared to single shielded coaxial cables: RF shielding of LMR-400-FR-PVC is > 90 db as compared to 40 dB for RG8.

Outer Jacket

The LMR-400-FR-PVC comes with a black Fire Retardant PVC Jacket. This gives additional flexibility over the LMR-400 PE Jacket.

Frequency Operating Band

LMR-400-FR-PVC is designed to operate excellent from DC – 6GHz. For any frequency band at VHF and above LMR is the obvious choice.

The soft silicone boot weatherproofing kits replace older weatherproofing methods, require no heat and only simple and easy hand assembly for valuable time saving in the field. The WSB-400 weather seal strain relief boots are IP67 rated and both RoHS and REACH Compliant. The kits are supplied in a convenient 10 pack which also contains four pouches of silicone lubricant to facilitate installation of the boots.

Simply set it to the correct connector type and start stripping. The Cable Prep Tool has replaceable blades however this should not need to be done regularly as the blades have been proven to have a very long lasting life.

    The TK-400EZ Cable Assembly Tool Kit has been designed for LMR-400 crimp and clamp connectors. The tooling in the kit can be used with all LMR-400 cables and all LMR-400 X series connectors. The TK-400EZ tool kit consists of the following items:

    CCT-03 Cutting tool
    The CCT-03 cutting tool, included in the TK-400EZ Tool Kit, is the first tool used to cut the LMR coaxial cable. The CCT-03 cutting tool has a hardened blade, that allows 1000’s of cable cuts, with no degradation to the blade. The CCT-03 cutting tool is designed to cut from LMR-100 – LMR-600.
    CST-400 Cable Stripping Tool
    The CST-400 Cable Stripping Tool, included in the TK-400EZ Tool Kit, is the second tool used to strip the LMR coaxial cable. This tool has 3 features: Cable cut (To centre conductor), Jacket stripper and centre conductor deburring tool. There is also an adjustment setting on the stripping tool to allow to cut for Times Microwave LMR Crimp connectors or Clamp connectors. This avoids having to take the time to read instructions and measure. Simply set it to the correct connector type and start stripping!
    CT-400/300 Crimp Tool 
    The CT-400/300 Crimp Tool, included in the TK-400EZ Tool Kit is the final tool used to crimp the connector on to the LMR-400 coaxial cable. The Crimp Tool has been specifically designed with ultra strong dies that never wear over time. The dies are made to a very fine tolerance, specifically designed for LMR-400 X Series connectors. The result from using the CT-400/300 crimp tool is the perfect crimp every time, with no tool degradation.
